Sharing A Vision 2009: "Endless Possibilities"

Joint Position Statement on Early Childhood Inclusion and new video are now available
A new 12-minute video,
Foundations of Inclusion Birth to Five, includes highlights from the
recently released Joint Position Statement on Early Childhood
Inclusion as well as bite-sized information on big ideas about
inclusion. The video was
produced by
CONNECT, a Office of
Special Education Programs-funded national center that is developing
web-based resources and modules on effective and evidence-based practices to
support professional development.

South Suburban Special Recreation Association Announces Fall 2009 Schedule
The South Suburban Special Recreation Association provides recreational programs and services for individuals with special needs who live in Country Club Hills, Frankfort Square, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Flossmoor, Lansing, Matteson, Oak Forest, Olympia fields, Park Forest, Richton Park and Tinley Park. Check the SSSRA website for complete information, including fees and locations.
SSSRA programs are for individuals with special needs of all age ranges. Programs for young children, ages 2-5 include; Little Tykes Super Sports, Little Kickers Soccer, Parent-Tot Swim, and Super Saturdays.
Pumpkin Decorating afternoon on Saturday, Oct. 17,
2009 at Frankfort Square Park District from 4 to 5 p.m. This event is for
children ages 2-5 and their parents.
Sensory
Station Day on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and
Frankfort Square Park district. The SSSRA specialists will set up a
therapeutic environment to enhance each child's senses. Children will
enjoy the soft stroke of feathers, the tactile touch of toys, or the feel of
play dough. This program is specifically designed for children with
Autism, Sensory Integration disorder and Pervasive Development disorder.
