Learning Links Update

Attention all staff! The final program meetings for the 2009-2010 school year will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 which means that there is only a short amount of time in which to fulfill your program meeting requirements for the year. We currently have 10-15 offerings available for registration, but please note that some of these classes are only open to specific staff/program members.

Remember, if you are unsure of how many classes you have taken this school year, you can log into your account through our website at www.swcccase.org . You can go to the professional development link on our home page and select the option to manage my existing account. You then use your coop email address and password (that you created) to log into the account. Once you are in your account, you can select the continuing education link to see a detailed list of all of the credits you have earned to date. You can also view your certificates and any upcoming events you are registered to attend.

If you have any questions or concerns about your professional development, please direct them to Erin Hackett at ehackett@swcccase.org.

Braun Student Winter Volunteer Projects

During the months of November and December, the 9th and 10th graders in Ms. Jennings’ class at Braun Educational Center invested a lot of their time doing good for other people. Room 16 was in charge of collecting non-perishable food items from all the classrooms, organizing them, and distributing them into boxes so that 7 families of Braun students could have a nice meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This group of students also took charge of collecting handmade holiday cards for our soldiers across seas to send them messages of joy, hope, and thanks! Ms. Jennings’ class collected over 100 cards and mailed them to Chicago, where our governor, Pat Quinn, gathered them from all over Illinois and hand delivered them to soldiers in the Middle East. Also, this class studied WWII and The Holocaust during second quarter and decided to do a humanity project to practice doing good deeds for other people. They collected over 40 blankets, wrote holiday cards for each one, and packaged them up nicely and distributed them to veterans in a nearby nursing home to thank them for serving our country! The last project that these young adults have been working on is collecting cell phones, which will be recycled, then be exchanged for phone cards for soldiers over seas to use to call home. This project is still going on and a drop off box is located in the front office of Braun Educational Center. Keep up the good work!!!

February Tech Tip
Keep a file in the Recent Documents List

Keeping track of your most recent files is now a snap (or should I say "pin") with Office 2007. If you want to recall a file over and over again select the Microsoft Office Button
to view your recent documents. Next to each file name is a grey push pin Click the pin and you will see it turn green indicating that the file is permanently "pinned" to the recent documents list. You can save up to 50 files in your recent documents list. To change the number of files that will be displayed, select Microsoft Office Button and Options at the bottom, then scroll down to the Display section. Here you can increase or decrease the amount of files displayed.

This tip applies to Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Word 2007. Sorry Publisher!
