Lisa Zitlow

It's hard to believe but it's that time of the year again - the beginning of a new school year. Welcome back!  My name is Lisa Zitlow and I will be your child’s social worker. As we embark on our final year(s) of our high school career, we have so much to learn, explore, and experience this year.

I have been working in the Coop for 14 years now. I’ve spent about half that time working in Project Challenge (PC), with the last 5 years working in PC full time. I truly feel blessed to be working in a career that I love and a program that gives opportunity to young adults in helping them become functioning members of society!

Participating in this accelerated nontraditional type of high school program, it is extremely important to be in attendance every day. Understanding the difficulties of balancing all of life’s demands, we realize there may be times your child will be absent. We expect your child to report his or her absence, via phone or email. This can be directed to me or your child’s respective teacher. As a parent myself, I understand the desire to help your child in every way possible. We are attempting to prepare them for the real world while promoting responsibility. That being said, we would like to see the student making contact with school informing us of their absence.

In the coming months, we will be taking time out of our school day visiting local community agencies to volunteer our time and energy. If your child is in need of any community service hours, please inform us as these services do qualify for such. The agencies we have confirmed with are Rich Township Food Pantry and Bremen Township Food Pantry. Services provided will be on a monthly schedule, alternating classrooms/students.

As we come closer to completing our careers in high school, your child will have been exposed to several options for post secondary education. We will have speakers present on DRS, JOBS 2, Transition, and South Suburban Community College. Depending on your child’s goals, this may include trips over to the programs to complete registration, take the placement test, meet with counselor and/or staff, and tour the facility.

As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher. Collaborating as a team is essential for the growth and success of a student. Please contact me at anytime if you have questions, comments, or concerns by e-mail or phone (708) 342-5312.

Thank you for your commitment to your child's education and success and I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year!
